Tradition Energy Director Explains How to Create Smart Energy Management Strategies05/09/2008

Houston, TX (May 6, 2008)—Ben Parker, Director of National Accounts for Tradition Energy, a full-service energy management advisor and one of the nation’s largest energy procurement firms, addressed attendees to the International Facility Management Association (IFMA ) Industries Forum on May 1, 2008 in Denver, CO.

IFMA is the world’s largest and most widely recognized international association for professional facility managers, supporting more than 19,000 members in 60 countries. The association’s members, represented in 125 chapters and 15 councils worldwide, manage more than 37 billion square feet of property and annually purchase more than $100 billion in products and services.

Parker’s presentation, entitled “Creating Smart Energy Management Strategies,” stressed to the group that in analyzing the price of power, it’s crucial to understand the underlying influences of the natural gas market, the fundamentals of supply and demand, and the effects of weather and geopolitics.

“Creating smart energy management strategies is about much more than just comparing rates,” said Parker. “It requires knowledge of how the electricity and wholesale energy markets operate, the fundamentals affecting the price of generation fuels, and the variety of products available, including green energy products, and the risks associated with each type of product.”
