Tradition and OMNIA Partners, Public Sector Help South Texas Schools Save Millions

Stamford, Connecticut, August 19, 2020 – Tradition Energy announces that it recently advised McAllen ISD and Del Mar College on energy risk management and procurement, resulting in millions of dollars in reduced costs. Both schools took advantage of Tradition’s contract available through OMNIA Partners to eliminate additional time and expense on the procurement process.

Del Mar College, located in Corpus Christi, TX, previously contracted directly with an energy provider to supply its electricity.  With a new campus coming online in 2022, the College was looking for assistance in reducing its energy costs as it expanded its footprint. Del Mar hired Tradition for its vast stable of competitive energy suppliers and for the unique access to wholesale energy prices Tradition Energy provides its clients.  Del Mar’s new contract reduces its costs more than $3.5 million and also includes $48,000 in energy efficiency rebates.

Before hiring Tradition, McAllen ISD, McAllen, TX, had participated in an energy aggregation where an “energy rate” was provided to a large group of diverse energy users. When McAllen learned about the benefits of flexible and independent purchasing, they were encouraged to see what opportunities existed by utilizing Tradition as their advisor, and the Energy Consulting contract through OMNIA Partners.  As a result of the procurement, McAllen will save approximately $3.4 million, more than 16% versus their previous energy agreement.
